Housing for Elderly

In close proximity to the historic monastery, the elderly care home was designed with particular sensitivity to its cultural and architectural context. Drawing on principles of traditional local architecture, the project interprets familiar forms, proportions, and materials within a contemporary care environment.

The building provides residential accommodation and dedicated care facilities for elderly residents, complemented by shared spaces for everyday interaction and social activities. At ground-floor level, a smaller outdoor courtyard creates an intimate place for residents to meet, spend time outdoors, and connect with the surrounding environment.

Rather than treating the building as an isolated institutional facility, the design aims to create a domestic and recognisable environment where architecture and communal spaces contribute to a sense of comfort and belonging. Its scale and architectural language establish a respectful relationship with the surrounding historic context and the nearby Monastery.
